Hole 1-6 Hole
7-12 Hole
13-18
Hole 1 Junction 503 metres Par
5
A wide inviting first fairway but the player who places his tee
shot well to the right is rewarded with an open second through the
left hand dogleg, leaving a short pitch to a deep green guarded
by a short steep slope on the right and behind.
Tee shots left of centre leave the player shut out from the dogleg
meaning a precise, lay-up second is required.
Hole 2 Fry Pan 318 metres
Par 4
The natural left to right contour of the hole, along with a dominant
pine on the right of the fairway indicate that this hole sets up
for a drive up the left centre of the fairway.
From here its a straight forward short iron to a relatively flat
putting surface.
The "bony" nature of the rough on either side of this
hole ensures that players hitting the fairway are justly rewarded.
Hole 3 The Hump 140 metres
Par 3
A classic short hole that changes character dramatically when the
wind gets up from any direction.
In calm conditions it requires a short to medium iron from the elevated
tee to a wide green protected by a large bunker at the front left.
In breezy conditions the club selection must be precise to hold
the green which sits at a deceptive angle to the line of the fairway.
Tee shots landing short may well run all the way back to the bunker.
Hole 4 Long Ridge 522 metres Par
5
Aptly named, this is a meaty par 5 requiring a lengthy carry from
the tee, preferably into the centre right of the fairway, avoiding
a deep fairway bunker and patchy, rough on the left.
The second is played blind from an uphill lie to set up a pitch
across a small gully to a shallow, wide green that slopes severely
from back to front.
The premium on the second shot is to leave a full shot in from the
opposite side of the fairway to the hole placement.
A deep bunker on the front right corner of the green adds to the
intimidating view.
A short 3rd shot will roll all the way back into the gully in front
of the green and one placed above the hole can leave the player
a frighteningly quick downhill putt.
Hole 5 Calamity 187 metres Par
3
Into a south easterly this is a daunting tee shot and the nor-wester
with its strong cross wind from left to right is not much easier.
This a long iron, sometimes a wood, to a long green with a strong
slope from back to front and steep shoulders to the left and right
to carry errant strokes away from the putting surface.
Three is always a good score here.
Hole 6 Molyneux 360 metres Par
4
A long carry from the tee to a left-hand dogleg sets up a medium
iron into this strong par 4.
A tee shot down the left side needs to be solidly struck to carry
far enough to give a clear run into the green, which is angled slightly
right to left across the line of the fairway.
A "waste area" short left and a steep slope along the
left side of the green indicate the safe play with the second shot
is toward the right side of the putting surface.
